A 720Hz OLED panel built for esports monitors
LG Display says it has begun mass production of a 24.5-inch 720Hz Gaming OLED panel, which it calls the first OLED panel made specifically for esports (opens in a new tab). The company announced the launch on Sept. 20, 2026. Monitors used in esports are mostly in the 24-inch class, a size that lets a player take in the whole screen at once, and LG Display says it wants to push OLED into that market.

LG Display claims the highest refresh rate among gaming OLED displays at 720Hz, along with a 0.02ms response time. A 720Hz refresh rate means the screen updates 720 times per second. The company says the panel runs that rate at FHD (1920x1080) through a proprietary driving algorithm and an integrated approach that covers panel design and the driving system. LG Display says the combination cuts motion blur and ghosting, which it frames as an advantage in first-person shooter and racing games. Each pixel emits its own light, since the panel needs no backlight.
The panel's first home is Asus's ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace gaming monitor. That monitor has been picked as the official esports monitor for PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026. LG Display says it plans to push further into the esports market with a lineup spanning the 20-inch to 40-inch class, some of it using its Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology. "As a technology-driven company, we will lead the transition to OLED in the gaming monitor market and lead the mainstreaming of OLED in the global market," said Hyeon-woo Lee, Head of the Large Display Business Unit at LG Display.
