The R200A takes the place of Yamaha’s R-S202 and will come in silver or black. Yamaha positions the new model for both people buying their first Hi-Fi system and enthusiasts, with changes to its internal design as well as its connections.
Radio listening is built in through an AM/FM tuner, with room to store 40 station presets. Bluetooth Multipoint lets listeners switch between two devices, giving the receiver another source option alongside its turntable connection and tuner.
Connections for two speaker pairs and a subwoofer
The receiver can drive as many as two speaker pairs, with A/B selection providing control over the speaker setup. It also has an output dedicated to a subwoofer, while binding-post terminals handle the speaker connections.
For a turntable setup, the dedicated phono input provides the connection for playing vinyl records through the receiver. Yamaha says its upgraded speaker terminals are intended to make those wired connections more secure and reliable.
Inside, Yamaha has introduced a center beam chassis structure that it says reduces interference caused by vibration. The company also points to revised grounding circuitry, selected components and a redesigned heat sink as changes intended to improve sound reproduction and support reliability over time.
For a setup combining a turntable, two Bluetooth devices and a subwoofer, the R200A brings those connections together with A/B selection for two speaker pairs.
