WiiM Bar is shipping in the US, with EU and UK availability announced for late November. Updates add surround timing and music service options.

A soundbar to build a surround system around

WiiM Bar began shipping on September 15 in the US and select countries, with availability through selected retailers (opens in a new tab). The Dolby Atmos soundbar supports music streaming and expansion into a WiiM surround system, giving buyers a starting point for both music and home theater.

Shipping in the US and select countries since September 15; EU and UK availability announced for late November

WiiM says availability in the EU and UK is scheduled for late November, with access depending on the retailer and region. For owners building beyond the soundbar, WiiM Bar firmware v5.2.829051 added Google Cast capabilities for multi-room listening across WiiM devices and wireless output to WiiM Sub Pro. WiiM also reports improvements to surround volume balance, height effects and network stability in that update.

The September 29 firmware, v5.2.830857, added automatic timing alignment linking WiiM Bar with its surround speakers. It also introduced independent surround levels for music and TV, plus controls for height levels. WiiM says the update improves HDMI eARC stability, while certain controls need a compatible app version or one still to come.

More music options depend on app and firmware versions

Presto Music integration entered WiiM Home with v3.6.8, and WiiM Bar gained the matching firmware capability at September's end. WiiM says support for additional devices is rolling out. The same app update changed subwoofer calibration to reduce incorrect silence detection and adjusted RoomFit™ clipping detection for Android.

WiiM Home v3.6.9 added Headless Plexamp integration for streaming to a WiiM device, which requires compatible beta firmware. For Squeezelite connections, users can now type an LMS server's IP address into WiiM Home. That app version also added track-version labels for TIDAL and a mini-player button for advancing to the next track.

WiiM distributes firmware in stages, so individual devices can receive these updates at different times.
