The ±4% setting is a first for the SL-1200 Series. Technics says this narrower adjustment window gives DJs finer control when matching beats between tracks with similar BPM values. The ±50% setting expands the scope for tempo manipulation, which the company positions for creative mixing and turntablism.
The SL-1210MKX also offers reverse operation and playback at 78 rpm, while its coreless motor lets users adjust starting torque and braking speed. Technics has revised the reset switch for quieter operation, drawing inspiration from earlier SL-1200 models. The turntable pairs a black finish with a polished silver tonearm.
Isolation changes for bass-heavy rooms
Technics says a heavier, balanced chassis improves resistance to vibration reaching the turntable from outside. Redesigned feet aim to isolate acoustic feedback while retaining the stability needed for scratching. The company says reducing feedback risk allows higher sound pressure levels and more aggressive EQ settings during performances.
Working DJs and sound engineers contributed to development, with Technics targeting touring performers, scratch specialists and permanent installations in clubs and music venues. The design addresses operating conditions that include structural vibration, deep bass and long periods of use. A public unveiling is scheduled for today at Pacific in Amsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event, with further launch appearances planned at the Paris Audio Video Show and the Poland Audio Video Show.
