Pool arrives with shared-screen play

LG is bringing 8 Ball Pool to its Smart TVs and monitors with webOS 6.0 or later, with a free-to-play rollout across 165 countries scheduled to begin the week of October 2 (opens in a new tab). Its exclusive Couch Play Mode lets two people compete on one screen, giving the living room version a way to play together on the sofa.

LG says its partnership with Miniclip brings 8 Ball Pool to TVs for the first time. According to LG, worldwide downloads have passed 1 billion, and Guinness World Records lists it as the most-downloaded pool game on mobile.

Optional items are available to buy within the game. LG says it and Miniclip are offering LG TV users exclusive launch items. LG also reports that its web-based library has grown threefold to over 1,000 titles that are free to play, citing internal figures spanning January 2024 to May 2026.

Use the remote to line up a shot

The webOS version adapts the interface for the LG Magic Remote, which players use to aim, set shot power and take a shot. Owners can open the game through either LG Apps or LG Gaming Portal. Within LG Gaming Portal, completing tasks can earn rewards that include badges displayed in My Page.

LG also says displays larger than 100 inches, including its latest QNED evo and Micro RGB TVs, can present 8 Ball Pool at real-world scale. That size claim uses measurements based on a 7-foot pool table.
