The Apple AirPods 4 Wireless Earbuds handle the everyday audio you already run through your phone. Music on a commute, a podcast while you cook, a work call from a noisy room. They're rebuilt with a shorter stem and a refined contour for comfort across long days, and the dust, sweat and water resistance means rain and heavy workouts are part of their normal range.
We'd consider these for anyone who wants an Apple-first fit with quick-press controls for music and calls. That's a real convenience, and it keeps the routine simple.
What you connect and the formats you choose
These are earbuds built around iOS and the Apple ecosystem. Pairing happens when you bring them near your device and tap Connect, and Siri responds to "Siri" or "Hey Siri" for songs, calls, or your schedule. You can also nod or shake your head to answer Siri.
Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking puts sound around you for music, shows, movies, and games. That's the setting worth switching on for a TV episode on a tablet, and it's an Apple feature, so check your source device supports it before you plan a movie night around it.
Commute, desk, or workout. Where this fits.
The case charges over USB-C and takes up less space than the earlier generation, so it slips into a pocket or a small bag pocket without the bulk. An optical in-ear sensor plays when you're wearing the buds and pauses when you take them off. Find My can help you track the case and buds if they wander off.
You'd skip these if personalized spatial audio or the Apple pairing flow isn't part of your setup, since the value here sits with the ecosystem. You'd also skip if you need active noise cancellation, which isn't listed here. Before you buy, confirm your phone or tablet is the Apple device you'll pair with, and check that your charging routine uses USB-C.
